Thank you so much for all the feedback you’ve given us over the last three weeks.  We’ve heard from dozens of customers over the phone, by email, and in person.  We love that you are enjoying our products and service, and appreciate all your comments– both the positive and negative.

One particular topic of interest has been our approach to packaging our products.  As you have noticed, we wrap many of our fruits and veggies using styrofoam and plastic wrap.  As some customers have noted, this plastic and styrofoam become garbage once they’ve unwrapped their groceries, and can accumulate over time.

We are listening, and we do care about reducing waste and protecting the environment, as much as we care about providing our customers with guaranteed fresh and safe vegetables and superior customer service.

Before launching Direct Fresh, we experimented with several different “styles” of packaging–from paper, to jute, to plastic.  The optimal packaging looks beautiful, is cost effective, protects and prolongs the shelf life of the produce, and results in little waste.  We can’t say that we’ve come up with a perfect solution, but we are committed to adapting to the demands of our consumers and our environment.

In that spirit, DIRECT FRESH will no longer deliver dry-storage vegetables like potatoes, garlic, onion, and ginger in styrofoam, but will instead use light weight, recyclable mesh bags to reduce waste.  We will also begin collecting used styrofoam from customers, which we will sterilize and reuse.

If any of you Foodies have good ideas for alternative packaging ideas or waste reduction, we’d love to hear them!  You can email us at [email protected] OR give us a call at +8809696444444.

Hi Fives,
